Dear friends,

there is a little village in Mexico, near the city of La Paz, which is full of lovely people. It is called San Evaristo.

This is a small village that lives primary of fishing. If you are a cruiser and have already been there , then you know how happy they are when a boat anchors in the bay.

We returned there at least five times in two years and every time we drop the anchor a whole bunch of kids runs to the beach calling us by name. Nowhere we feel as welcome as in San Evaristo.

That’s why we are happy to help our friends Charlotte and Steve (s/v Willful Simplicity) collecting funds for the primary school in San Evaristo.

There are 11 students enrolled this year. They have a fabulous teacher, however, his living conditions need to be improved if we expect him to stay and teach the entire school year. He can’t afford a house (being paid around 150$/month). The school is his home and right now he is sleeping on the floor because he has no bed. The windows are broken which will become a problem as soon as the winter comes.

Our cruising friends have always been very supportive of this project. Donation items are very much needed and appreciated. Anyone wishing to help with this drive is encouraged to do so. There is a list of suggested items at the bottom of this letter.

Steve and Charlotte would be happy to show you around the village to help you get to know it. There is a lot to offer the cruising community and they are lovely people.

As you can see, they need the basic materials that every child in the world should have. These kids are willing to learn and we all know that a better education means a better future for them.
